REVIEW | WILKOS BRUSH COLLECTION.

Happy Sunday everyone!!

If your not like me and don’t venture into Wilkinsons on your lunch break almost 5 times a week then you may not have stumbled across these beauty’s and I know what your thinking, Wilkos have a brush range?! And more importantly they’re this bloomin’ pretty?!

If you’ve seen the original brush range from Wilkinsons that are very reminiscent of Real Techniques you’ll know they’ve massively upped their game with this beautiful rose gold handle, I’m a big fan! Nothing against the Real Techniques design but no one could quite pull it off like Sam and Nic did with their range!

The two brushes I picked up were the Luxury Blush Brush £4 (top pic) and the Luxury Short Hair Stippling Brush £5 (bottom pic). Both brushes are incredibly soft, I’ve washed these numorous times and they’ve come out just as good as new! I personally wouldn’t use the blush brush for blush as I prefer a bigger fluffy brush for blush but I do love this for contour because it’s the perfect shape for just underneath those cheek bones and distributes the product perfectly. The stippling brush I use more as a buffing brush for foundation but again it blends in the foundation perfectly and always gives a lovely amount of coverage.

I’ve also got my eye on the Luxury Eyebrow Brush £3, I love the idea of the angled brow brush and the brow comb on one brush and since Anastasia Beverley Hills released theirs I have been lusting after it but for the price of £3 it’s definitely worth a try, it could save me a lot of money in the long term.

BEAUTY PRODUCTS ON TRIAL

The last couple of months I’ve been testing out some new beauty products that have been in my collection a while. The St. Moriz tans have aways been my budget fake tan of choice until I started using and falling in love with Fake Bake. I preferred Fake Bake purely because it was a developing tan meaning you put it on, wash it off a couple of hours later and the tan lasts roughly a week. When I saw that St. Moriz had introduced a developing tan range at a budget price I had to try it. I used this when I went to Parklife back in June and really put it to the test in the rain all day everyday the whole weekend. When I first applied it I fell in love with the colour, it was the exact colour I love in a fake tan, not to warm toned but not to grey toned. I didn’t find that it lasted as well throughout the weekend compared to fake bake but considering it is a fraction of the price it is still an amazing tan.

The Nuxe oil which I received in a Birchbox a couple of months ago has been put to the test on the ends of my dry, frizzy and split ends. I applied this to damp hair and although I’m sure it moisturised the ends of my hair and stopped any frizz I felt it made my hair slightly greasy and a really oily texture, maybe I applied to much, I’ll preserver with less product next time.

Next is the Olay 7 in 1 eye cream, initially I absolutely loved this product, I really struggle with dark under eye circles but this cream has such a light and brightening consistency I felt it really helped with the darkness. Unfortunately, I’m not sure whether this is due to the cream I started to get a really dry patch underneath my right eye so have put this product on hold to see whether this was the cause.

The new love of my life when it comes to mascara is the Benefit They’re Real Primer and the Benefit They’re Real Mascara combo, I’ve never given into the hype of Benefit’s mascara’s but when I received these, again, in a Birchbox a couple of months ago I obviously had to try them. Honestly, for someone with the straightest and shortest lashes in the world, the only time I have ever been happy with my eyelashes is when using these products together!!

Finally, what sort of blogger would I be without trying out a Tanya Burr Cosmetics product? I opted for the Hollywood eyeshadow palette because these are the sort of colours I am more likely to wear and there is the most useful all over the lid bone shade which is the perfect base for any eyeshadow look and I reach for this palette every single day for this shadow alone.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande

imageAriana Grande is one of the most recent celebrities to collaborate with MAC creating a new lipstick to add to the Viva Glam line where all the proceeds go to the MAC Aids charity. Ariana opted for a matte deep dark berry toned purple, it almost looks black in the bullet, not the typical colour I would have expected Ariana Grande to create but I’m very glad she did. It’s not like any other lipstick I’ve ever owned and although I have always wanted to delve into deeper berry/purple toned lipstick I have not as of yet. So, when I saw MAC had released the Ariana Grande Viva Glam lipstick I had to get it.

I haven’t worn the lipstick for a full day or night out yet, I’ve purely just tried it on when it arrived. Although, it’s a matte formulation, when I first applied the lipstick it appeared to have a lovely sheen which felt moisturising on the lips, however I’m not sure how this would wear throughout the day/night. From my first impressions I also noticed that the colour didn’t apply evenly all over my lips, I felt as though it applied opaque over most areas but not the entire lips. When applying the lipstick I also found it very difficult to apply it neatly, maybe because I’m not used to applying such a dark, bold colour but I think both of these problems could be resolved by using a lip liner first, I’ve currently got my eye on MAC Nightmoth lip liner.

Overall, I absolutely love the colour of Ariana Grande’s recent collaboration with MAC but I think it’s definitely one you need to pair with a lip liner for neat & opaque coverage.image
