THE BEST UNDEREYE CONCEALERS

image

Finding the perfect under eye concealer that hides those dreadful dark circles and highlights like you’re a long lost Kardashian is a challenge all makeup-lovers have accepted. I’ve found during my search that there are a few concealers that I keep coming back to.

Loreal True Match – The range that stocks one of my favourite foundation also has a brilliant concealer to match. It’s such a creamy concealer with fantastic coverage that hides my dark circles brilliantly.

Mac Prep & Prime – The prep & prime highlighter is perfect for brightening up under the eye, in fact I think this is my third bottle of it since I’ve discovered it. I wouldn’t wear this product under my eye on it’s own, because my dark circles are usually horrific I use this product alongside a concealer so I’ll wear this over the top, as although it highlights perfectly, it isn’t a full coverage concealer.

Mac Pro Longwear – The pro longwear concealer is the most full coverage concealer I have ever tried which I love when it comes to under eye concealers. I have heard and read that many people wouldn’t recommend this concealer for underneath the eye because it is too thick, although I’ve never had an issue with caking or it setting into the lines underneath my eyes. Although this concealer has the best coverage and lasting power, this is the one I reach for the least because I hate the packaging, it gets so grubby so easily and it’s so easy to waste product using the pump.

Maybelline Instant Rewind – This is one concealer that is raved about by everyone and it is definitely my most loved concealer of the 5. The coverage again is perfect and the lasting power is wonderful and it’s a perfect consistency for underneath the eyes.

What are your favourite under eye concealers?

THE AVON ULTRA COLOUR LIPS

From left to right – Twig, Mad for Mauve, Stollen Kisses, Pout

If you’re a regular reader of my blog you might have seen an Avon haul a couple of months ago where I bought a couple of lipsticks, one being the Ultra Colour Lipstick in the shade Twig. Over the last couple of months this became a strong favourite lipstick of mine, not just because of the colour but because I found the formula just perfect. So the next time I found myself looking through another Avon brochure I decided to pick up a couple more from the range in a few different shades.

The formula of these lipsticks are beautiful, they’re so smooth and hydrating on the lips and are extremely comfortable to wear. I’ve tried a million and one lipsticks during my time collecting makeup and these are by far the best formula I have ever tried, dare I say it I am even preferring these to Mac lipsticks as well at the moment. The lasting wear is amazing and they wear off beautifully without any patches.

Avon have really upped their game recently, I have recently read on a few blogs that their Ultra Matte lipsticks are being compared to the Mac matte range, which I did actually purchase one of, so look out for a post on these on the blog.

Have you ever tried these lipsticks?

MAC MIND CONTROL

imageBack in my teenage years I featured a bright lipstick almost every single day, often even to sixth form. Over the past year or two since starting my office job and the whole craze over the ‘Kylie Jenner’ nudes, I very rarely reach for my bright lip colours anymore.

Recently with the lovely weather approaching I have been wanting to change up my makeup and add some bright lips into the mix, my lovely boyfriend noticed and very very kindly got me a lipstick from the Brooke Candy collection by mac in the shade ‘Mind Control’.

This is a beautiful shade, unlike any other I own, it’s a fusia toned red with an amplified finish. I usually love amplified finishes but I find with this lipstick it is a lot more creamy than other amplified lipsticks I have tried so I felt the lasting power is not as good as it could be. This isn’t a massive problem for me though because I am quite happy to reapply lipstick throughout the day but it’s something to consider if you’re thinking about picking it up.

Overall, the colour is beautiful and perfect as a bright shade for summer & I am almost sure I’ll be sporting this shade all throughout summer.

What do you think of this shade?

FOR THE DREAMERS

imageIt’s that time of the month again where I talk you through the stash of goodies in May’s Birchbox. This month the theme was “for the dreamers” which I really like, I love the fact there is a theme with each box.

This month I received a sample size of the Stainiac by The Balm, a red lip and cheek stain, I don’t feel like these sorts of products have ever really ‘taken off’ although many brands have introduced them to their range, the most popular being Benefit, but other than High Beam I never hear any of the more blush shades being mentioned.

Beauty sponges are taking over the market with almost every brand jumping on the band wagon and bringing out their version of the infamous beauty blender, the most recent being Spectrum, I received another one of their brushes in a previous box which I love and I now use on a daily basis, so I’m very excited to see how this compares to the other beauty sponges I have tried.

Next, is some products from a hair care brand I have never heard of before called Beaver and this months Birchbox included their Nutritive shampoo and conditioner. I have such a sensitive scalp so it’s very rare I try out different shampoos but I will definitely give this a go.

Coconut Oil is something that everyone is raving about these days, it can be used for cooking, on hair, on skin, literally on almost anything and apparently it’s pretty good stuff. This one is from vita coca, which is a very well known brand that I’m familiar with because of their coconut water.

Finally the last two products in Mays Birchbox is the Brighten Up Exfoliating Cleanser and the Puriskin Resurfacing Formula for face & body which I’m very excited to try!!

Overall, I’m extremely impressed with this months box. What do you think?
