Rediscovering Brands – New in From Avon

My friend who has recently had a baby has decided she is going to be an avon representative and asked if I fancied a flick through the catalogue to see if there was anything I fancied.

I’ve not had a look at any avon products since I was a teenager but I’ve recently heard some incredible things about their lipsticks, especially the matte range being compared Mac lipsticks.

When I was probably  about 16 I remember trying a foundation and absolutely falling in love, so when I noticed they still stocked it in Avon an that it was half price I knew I had to get it. The Ideal Flawless invisible coverage foundation is an amazing full coverage foundation with the loveliest smell similar to the Bourjois Foundations.

As I mentioned earlier I’ve heard some incredible things about some of the avon lipsticks I decided to try out the Ultra Colour 3D Plumping Lipsticks in the shade Twig, this sounded like a great option for every day wear and the colour is similar to those I’m loving at the moment, it’s a deep mauve brown shade.

Lastly, I purchased one of the matte offerings, this range is one that I’ve heard are very similar to the matte range by mac which I really love. I got the shade Au Naturale which is a pink nude, I decided this shade would be perfect because it looked very similar to mac Honey Love which is one of my favourite nudes. I also really want to do a comparison to see if they are actually really alike at all.

Have you tried anything from Avon recently?

The Zoeva Eye Brush Set

When I started wearing eyeshadow daily I knew I needed to invest in some more eyeshadow brushes, I’ve already got a couple of Real Techniques eyeshadow brushes and a few some Sephora but I felt I wanted more blending brushes, lets be honest you can’t have enough blending brushes so I opted for the Zoeva 12 piece Eye brush set. This set comes with the brushes:

  • 317 Wing Liner brush
  • 234 Luxe Smoky Shader
  • 228 Luxe Crease
  • 227 Luxe Soft Definer
  • 230 Luxe Pencil
  • 322 Brow Line
  • 237 Detail Shader
  • 226 Smudger
  • 231 Luxe petit crease
  • 315 Fine Liner
  • 224 Luxe Definer Crease
  • 142 Concealer Buffer

A couple of the brushes I use on a daily basis and have fallen in love with are the wing liner brush, the luxe crease brush and the luxe smoky shader. The Wing Liner brush is my new favourite eyebrow brush, I use this every single day with either a eye shadow or brow promade. I love that it is thin meaning you can get a precise line making my brows look natural.

The luxe Crease brush is 100% my favourite brush out of the set I can’t do any eye look without having this on hand to blend out all my shadows, if you didn’t want to buy the full set but just a couple of single brushes I would definitely recommend this one.

The Luxe Smoky Shader brush is another brush that I use on a daily basis to apply my all over lid shade. I really like packing on the colour all over my lid to make it pop and this brush does that perfectly.

Overall, I absolutely love this brush set, it’s completely upped my eyeshadow game and £65 for 12 great quality brushes in my opinion isn’t too bad!

What do you think of Zoeva brushes?

MAC – Taupe

When Sean went to Thailand a couple of months ago I thought I would take full advantage of him stopping of at duty free so I asked him if he would come back with what other then a few mac lipsticks. I specifically asked for Taupe because I had seen some it on Instagram a couple of times and just thought it looked gorgeous. It’s another one of those brown toned nude shades, I would describe it as Velvet Teddy’s deeper and browner sister.

I don’t find this lipstick quite as wearable as Velvet Teddy just because it is browner than the usual lipsticks I opt for so for me, Taupe isn’t currently one of my everyday go to lipsticks because at the moment I am loving more nude ‘my lips but better colours’. I really want to try this lipstick when I go on holiday and get a tan, at the moment I think I am a bit too pale for Taupe, it washes me out.

Overall, I do absolutely love this colour when I see it on someone who has seen a little bit off sun, unlike me!! But at the moment it’s just a bit to dark and I’ll definitely opt for Velvet Teddy over Taupe.

What do you think of Taupe?
